Unique Bridesmaid Gift Ideas

Hey!

So, I've been perusing online for bridesmaids gifts and I really want to get my girls something different and unique for helping me get to the big day. I've seen plenty of very nice necklaces and jewelry, but my sister, who is also my maid of honour, makes her own line of necklaces and other jewelry and I feel it would be redundant to get her something like that. Not that she wouldn't appreciate it, I know she really, really would, I just want to do something that is different from the norm. I've seen customizable flasks that are pretty cute, but to me, that seems more of a groomsmen gift. Any ideas? Suggestions? What did you do for gifts?

Shop for each one like it is their bday or Christmas and skip the matchy matchy gifts. At what other time in life would you say "I think I'll buy all my girlfriends exactly the same gift!"? The wedding industry pushes this because the wedding industry sells those flasks, jewelry sets, personalized totes, etc.

Shop for each person indivdually and you will get the perfect and unique gift. Leave your wedding out of it.

Yes to the above post! I was way stressing over what to get them that matched. I ended up doing a little of both. I got each girl a tote bag in their favorite color monogrammed with their first initial. Then, I shopped for each of them as if I was buying a birthday gift. I got something I thought they would love, that represented who they are to me, and I knew they wouldn't splurge on for themselves. It took so much pressure off in resulted in (I think) great gifts!

I was thinking of doing something like this! Get something similar for each of them, but personalize it with their initials or their names, then get something special and meaningful to them! Great ideas, guys! Ideas are starting to form!

My friends and I actually do buy the same gifts for the entire group so that everybody is equal, for every holiday. We've done that since middle school. So that's what I'm doing for my wedding. I'm getting them bath robes and a nice set of l'occitaine bath products to go with it, most likely.

Matching the gift with the girl is such a great idea!

Have you thought about even gifting them with earrings, a clutch, or an item they could USE on the day of the wedding and than personalizing each gift. For example: gifting each girl with a clutch (it's an equal gift) and putting different lipgloss/nail polish colors in each girls clutch depending on their style, a pair of earrings they'd wear the day of your wedding, and even a small homemade card thanking them. A gift card could also be put in their clutches.

I love this idea, personally: http://pinterest.com/pin/259871840968177426/

It goes along with what people have been saying, and if you're crafty, it's an easy diy =)

I got each of my girls a thirty-one tote bag with a print to match each of their personalties. I figured that they could then put everything they will need to get ready for the wedding (we're all getting dressed at the church) together to make it easy to grab the bap & their dress & go. Then they also have something to put their other clothes in when they change. It has side pockets so we used those to make each girl an emergency kit (asprin, band-aids, breathmints, etc, bobby pins).

We actually ended up doing the same for the guys too.

This is pretty much what I'm planning on doing, too! Although my FI doesn't want to give gifts to his groomsmen... I don't know why but they're his so I spose I don't have much say in it!

I'm getting bags with their names on them, and I am actually planning on getting little stuff along the way during the time between now and the wedding. I'm not really thinking about 'what makes a good BM gift' but 'would _____ like this?' I'm putting together day-of emergency kits, too. (and one for me! I'm even going to get myself a bag to put it in.)

I am getting a few matchy-match things, though. I think it's cool to see everyone have the same shirt/hoody/sweats, etc. Not all of those together, though, that's a little much. o.O

Another suggestion: give them something they would actually like to use. If you know they aren't big into makeup, don't get them makeup. Even if it's the stuff you want them to wear at the wedding. Because then they have a bunch of makeup that was used once and is now going to waste. I really don't like makeup, can ya tell???
