Vendor Reviews (LONG)

Sorry to be a post-hog today, but I wanted to get these out too! :)

Everything went very, very well.  I have no major complaints.  The only "mishaps" we had was a traffic delay on 75that backed up our ceremony 15 minutes for guests to arrive.  Our cake was a little late too because of the traffic, but was still there before the ceremony started at least.

Also, my dress was bustled beautifully by Becky Fowler and stayed all night long, but I still stepped all over it.  I think my dress was stretching or getting looser as time went on...because it kept getting longer.

Other than that, virtually flawless.

Vendor Reviews:

Venue:  El Dorado Country Club, McKinney  A+ -  Cathy Taylor is the catering director there and she is AMAZING.  She is basically a day of coordinator and her and the staff took care of ALL of our setup, timing, etc.  We just dropped everything off before the rehearsal and she did the rest. They have a very large (and very nice!) locker room for getting ready the day of and we had access to it the whole day. The food was fantastic and everyone is still raving about it.  There are no room rental fees or coordination fees whatsoever as long as you meet the catering minimum (very reasonable!)  I highly recommend them!

Photographer:  McGowan Images – A+++ It’s no secret how much I’ve loved working with Chelsea and Mack so I will not go on and on here.  Booking them as our photographer was honestly the best decision we’ve made.  Our engagements and picnic sessions were a blast and the pictures are great.   Within 4-5 days of the wedding we had a preview blog with over 60 gorgeous photos.  I couldn’t ask for more!  Their work is superb and they are really fantastic to work with, we had a blast with them!

Ceremony Music:  Naoko Stromberg, Harp – A+  I didn’t hear it all, of course, but everyone (even Mark!) can’t get over how beautiful the harp was for our ceremony.  It was very elegant. Naoko is very easy to work with.  We chose the traditional music for our ceremony, but she will even learn modern hits if you want to mix things up.

Florist: The Blooming Bride – A  We didn’t have a LOT of flowers at our wedding, but the ones we did have were absolutely gorgeous and exactly as I had imagined.  Tami is super sweet and really saved the day for us.  I took her some gorgeous footed glass vases for my altar arrangements, and the feet cracked on the day of our wedding when she was preparing them.  This could have been a complete disaster, but she provided her rental vases to us for free and arrived early and calm on our special day.

Cake: The Cake Guys- A    We chose cakes from their sweet inspirations package, and they were both gorgeous and affordable.  We ordered a sample plate (since they don’t do official tastings with the value packages) and chose our flavors based on that.  When we booked, they discounted the package by the amount we paid for the samples.  They were super easy to work with and the cakes were just as delicious as our samples! J

DJ: Pat Homer – B  He was fun and very personable.  Great on communication.  A bit of a cheese, but our crowd had a great time so there are no complaints.  He forgot to announce one of our BM/GM couples into the reception, but it was an honest mistake.

Make Up Artist: AH Makeup Artistry (Amanda) – A++ Amanda arrived early and we all looked gorgeous!  She was fast and efficient and even went outside with us for touch-ups during photos.  I highly recommend her! :)

Dress Shop: Anonymously Yours – A – I got my Maggie Sottero gown here for $300.  It was a sample gown from a dress shop and still had the tags on it from the store it came from.  They have a very large selection of size 10 dresses (and a decent amount of 8 & 12’s).  We totally went there on a whim with no expectations and got lucky.

Tuxes:  Tuxedo Junction B – Very easy to work with, but almost everyone’s tux had some kind of an issue.  They were quick with alterations and re-order and all turned out fine in the end.  We kind of expected this from prior tux rental experiences.  Tuxes looked great though!

Alterations: Becky Fowler - A+ Super sweet, affordable, and easy to work with.  Can't ask for more!

Linens/BM Dresses: A-1 Wedding and Party Rental – A   Nice, personable staff.  Linens were beautiful and BM dresses came in right on time.

Rehearsal Dinner: Texas Land and Cattle, Plano – A++++  This restaurant was a GREAT choice.  We got to create our own menu from their regular menu(and at regular menu prices!) and since our RD was on Thursday they extended their “Thirsty Thursday” promotion to our party and we got $2 Beers and Margaritas and ½ price appetizers.  The wait staff there was SUPERB and helped make our party.  He made announcements for us and everything.  I very, very highly recommend them.

Honeymoon: Sun Palace, Cancun – A+  This resort was everything we could have asked for and more.   Adults only, couples only, on the far end of the strip on a very quiet and serene beach.   It was all inclusive, including all tours for free, dinner on the beach, 2 free 25 minute massages and a $100 spa credit, liquor dispenser was actually in the room, just everything.  We even had padded beach chairs on the beach with our names on them so we never had to look for a chair.  I wish I was still there!! J

That’s all I can think of at the moment.  If you have any questions about anyone please feel free to email me at Tiffany618@aol.com and I would be more than happy to give you details!

*note to self* -- must go to Sun Palace Cancun before I die.

Congratulations Tiffany--everything looked wonderful and sounds like your vendors were great.  You looked amazing (did Amanda do your hair too?) and your flowers were beautiful.  I am so jealous you got that beautiful dress for $300!  You did everything just perfect.

Thanks, Stephie!  All of your planning and advice helped me so much, and I totally copied your chinese take out box idea for the candy buffet. They were too cute!

My hair was actually done by my regular stylist.  I've been going to her since I had to sit in the high chair, so it was very sentimental for her to do my hair for the wedding.  She did an amazing job too, but I didn't include her because she only does weddings for regular clients.  Not really her cup of tea. =)

Liquor dispenser in the room? Tell me more!

Haha, we had Jose Cuervo Tequila, Absolute Vodka, Bacardi Rum, and some kind of scotch.   I know those aren't super premium brands, lol, but we had full bottles in one of those dispenser things that gives a shot at a time.  The mini fridge was stocked with juices and sodas for mixers.

They had all the premium brands at the actual bars downstairs, and we didn't but I'm sure you can get whatever you want brought up to your room.  We ordered lots of wine and they brought it right up.
