Question on Registry

My fiance and I are getting ready to registry for our wedding but there is a little problem. We live in an apartment and I don't want people sending gifts UPS or Fedex to our home address as know one is home during the day and we do not want packages sitting outside. I would like packages that are being sent UPS or Fedex sent to my work, so I receive them and I want cards and thing that are delivered by USPS sent to my home address. I just am not sure how to let people know that. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Also I have  had people tell me to put it on my wedding website, but a lot of my family does not use the computer. Would it be easier to have things sent to my mom's house, she is usually home and the drivers that deliver to her house usually call her to let her know there is a package for her.

Re: Question on Registry

  • No most people will have it shipped directly from the registry website instead of mailing the gifts themselves.  I know not everybody in your family uses the computer but most people know how to shop online these days.

Registry website don't list your address for people who are buying from them - they just ship to that address automatically.  You can have your address be on the STDs and then your mom's address be the one you give to the stores you register at.  You might get a few packages but it will probably mostly be cards that get sent to your apartment and packages that get sent to your mom.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Question on Registry : This. UPS's guidelines say the driver can only leave packages (that don't require a signature) in a safe, secure location. That is NOT the front stoop of your apartment building -- if you ever have a package left there you should call and complain.

I had no idea about that! Our UPS is always leaving packages just outside our door of the apartment complex. Rain or shine. :(
  • You could get friendly with a neighbor and see if they'll bring in any packages that are sent to your apartment instead of your mother's?
  • I would recommend having it shipped to your moms house along with anything else so it is easier.  Or when people ask you can have them use the ship to feature that you set up w your registry and then say if you would like to send cards send it you your home.

I have found that the people who don't use computers will flat out ask you what you ant.  My grandparents have done this, as well as my mother who plans on getting us an amish quilt!
