BB&B registry announcement

So I went to BB&B today with a friend.  I'm not getting married until next May so I had no intention of registering until later, but I asked one of the sales clerks what all went into registering.  She gave me some books, and held up these little pieces of paper, then told me that I could get as many as I wanted to put into my wedding invitations to let people know I was registered at BB&B.

I almost blurted out right then, "Oh my word do people really do that?!"  It seems like it would be an etiquette no-no.  Am I right in thinking this?  Has anyone used this before?

Re: BB&B registry announcement

  • Did the consultant specifically say wedding invitations? She was most likely referring to the shower invitations, because that is what you are registering for, a bridal shower. It is perfectly acceptable for those inserts to be included with the shower invitations, because you are not throwing the shower for yourself, someone else is throwing it, so it is not you asking for gifts. It is an easy and quick way for them to let your guests know where you are registered (especially if you are having a larger shower, it would be nearly impossible to spread the word to 50 or 60 people).
And as PPs said, they do not get included in the wedding invitations.
Things may be different regionally, but where I'm from, people don't typically gift boxed gifts at a wedding, and only gift cash/cards anyway.
