Travelers Joy Registry Website... Virus?

Hi there,
My hubby to be and I are using Traveler's Joy as our registry (With a few random items at Target for good measure.) I recently had my first shower and a family member told me that when they visited our traveler's joy page they got a virus warning from their pop up blocker. We have had a few people purchase gifts for us using the site-- no one else has said anything about it...?

My question is for anyone who has used Traveler's Joy as well... has this happened to you? Right now it's so early on that I don't know if it was this family member's browser or my site. I've checked it and everything seems to be fine.

Thanks in advance for the imput!
B.

  • You won't get a favorable response to HRs here.  It sounds like that ship has sailed, though.  FWIW, my friend used Traveler's Joy exclusively (she had no traditional registry) and no one had any virus problems, as far as I know.

Thanks for the response! It's good to hear that someone else used traveler's joy without any problems. ...I'm not sure what HR means, though?

Yeah... yet another reason not to have a honeymoon registry.

Uh oh, have you had bad experiences with it? For me it's really been helpful and easy... I still can't figure out where the virus may be-- my hubby to be is an IT guy and can't either but I'm interested to hear your opinion...
  • No, people dislike it because many people see it as asking for money - since your guests aren't actually BUYING you whatever activity, Traveler's Joy is just cutting you a check, minus their fee.  So you may want to think about changing to a traditional registry if HRs aren't common in your circle, to avoid offending.

If you do decide to stick with it, make sure you use the money for what you said.  I gave generously to a friend's HR, only to have them never take the Honeymoon and just spend the $ on whatever.  Not cool.  When possible, I'd try to take a picture of you and new H enjoying the activity in question and include it with the thank you, especially if it was something pricier.
