where to put the card box?

Where would be a good place to put a card box in the reception so that it doesn't look too prominent and gift-grabby, but also is visible enough that people can find it and no one can tamper with it? I was thinking maybe putting it on the table with the seat assignments so people don't have to carry the cards around for too long, but does that look presumptuous?  We're not having a gift display table, gifts will be put away in the dressing room (although that idea does make me a bit nervous too, I'm hoping there's a lock on the door).

Re: where to put the card box?

  • I would do a small gift table with the card box on it, near the escort card table.  People who bring boxed gifts probably won't know to put them in the dressing room or have access to it.

  • I've never been to a wedding that didn't have a gift table, including a card box.  I'm not sure how all the gifts in the dressing room would work.

Your best option is to have a gift table with the card box on it, then lock everything away (including the card box) after cocktails.
  • I agree with PP.  A gift table set up by the escort table is your best bet.  Our wedding coordinator takes our gifts and card box (which is going to have a lock) into their locked office until after the wedding when we'll move the gifts to our room.

  • you need to have a small table of some sort so people with boxed gifts and cards have a place to put them. and i think near the escort card table is a good idea too. good luck!

  • Thanks everyone!  I'll talk to the day of coordinator and make sure that she sets this up.
