Okay, I started by trying to look at the posts in this area, got all the way back to page 12 or so, and figured I'm not going to get my answer/help that I need unless I just ask.
Anyways... We are both 33 years old, never married, have lived on our own (with nice paying jobs at least before some Health issues and the recession), and we are actually still trying to cut back on the duplicates that we have. We are keeping the better items and donating the others. We have so much stuff, we have stored some things with my dad (we are keeping things like my extra bed for when we get a house). My Dad is going to pay for most of the Wedding/Reception and Honeymoon (The wedding will be about 30-50 people, mostly DIY, all guests from out of state). I will be paying for the dress, shoes, makeup, and hair. My guy will be paying for his tux, the rings, spending money on the Honeymoon, and the rest is going to our House fund (my dad doesn't want us touching this for the Wedding). His parents are paying for Photography/Video.
I know from reading tons of posts, that asking for Money is 'not acceptable', though when we have talked with our parents, and friends they know we don't need more stuff, and have guessed money would be better. But I know other people will want to give a gift. And asking for money is not the question, because I'm not asking. Honeslty, we just want to have a very nice wedding with close family and friends, and just celebrate Life. But, I know that I need a Register or we will get stuff that we REALLY do not need or have room for.
The only problem is, and what I need help for (after this long intro), is what to ask for?
I love to cook, so I already have everything, and in great quality. The only thing I can think of for the kitchen is a new food processor (but the one I want is a couple hundred dollars, reason I haven't bought it yet.) The same goes for maybe a grill, but again the only ones we want/looking at is in the hundreds. Besides that maybe some sheets (Cal King Bed sheets, are again too expensive). Do not need silverware or China (we have his grandmothers which we both love and it sits 18!) Neither one of us is into Crystal.
I don't want to make a list of only about 5 things all being over a hundren dollars each. We can't think of anything in the 10-50 dollar range. Can you have things that is not Kitchen, Dining, Bed or Bath? I am really at a loss here, because we've actually walked through the apartment and looked at everything to see if we would even want an upgrade of it, (only the above food processor). Can it include Hobbies? (Fishing stuff... he would love that but I doubt that should go on there.)
Any ideas? Help!
