Nice dinnerware for every day use?

I love the idea of registering for fine china, but I know my family and my guests and I just do not think enough people would buy it to make it worth registering for.

Instead, I would like dinnerware that is nice enough for entertaining, but also casual enough for everyday use.  I like a very simple design or just plain white.  I have spent a lot of time researching this online, but it's just so hard to know what is the best quality at a reasonable price.

Any ideas of items with a price point of $50 or $60/place set maximum?

We registered for Noritake Colorwave for our everyday dishes. They were simple, but they were sturdy and they had a nice weight. We got the graphite, and I feel like we can dress them up or down. Noritake had a lot of nice patterns that I liked.

We got place settings from Williams Sonoma that were very simple -  white with a blue border.  A five-piece setting is $48, though we registered for everything separately (I didn't want the teacups and saucers).  They have quite a few options that I thought were good for every day use.

Look into Denby Stoneware - the stuff is *awesome.* If you look at overstock, they usually have it at that price point.

I registered for the Noritake Colorwave and really like it.

Ditto Kate Spade every day china, we registered for their fine china, but I really like some of their every day stuff too which is what you described you're looking for.

Also check the dish sets at Crate & Barrel. A lot of them are nice enough for entertaining, but also can do double duty as every day dishes.

We have the blue willow right now for our everyday dishes.  I think they're nice enough for a formal meal too, like Thanksgiving.

I have fiestaware and love it!  I like the colors but it does come in white, cream, brown, etc.

I love Pfaltzcraft (sp?).  I use mine for everyday, my mom uses hers for holidays.  My BFF uses her Lenox china for everyday.

We also have Fiestaware. It's wonderful! And there are all sorts of serving dishes and accessories that you can mix and match. Love it!
