We don't "Need" a shower...thoughts?

My fiancee and I are getting married this September. He is 31 (I'm 24) and we have our own house already and about 90% of the things that you actually get at a bridal shower. Becuase of this, I'm seriously considering just not having one thrown for me by my aunts & bridesmaids. We really don't need it and there'd be about 5 things on our registry, and feel it would look selfish to have one with a smaller registry, and then be getting cash and checks when those same people will also be gifting at the wedding.
Is this socially acceptable? Lol I feel like it's the right thing to do! What are your thoughts and have any of you opted out of a shower?
I don't need the experience, I won't be brokenhearted over not having one...I'll have a baby shower in 10 years ;) Thanks ladies!

  • It's fine to politely decline a shower.  Cash is not really an appropriate shower gift (the bride sits there opening card after card while bills fall out?), so don't have a shower expecting it.
