July 2012 Weddings

Invitations

I'm working on our invitations and I'm trying to decide what all should go in them. What are you guys putting in yours?

Obviously we will have the invitation itself and a reply card. Are you putting any other cards in there? Directions? Things to do in the area? Anything else...?

We are going to have a couple of weekend activities organized for our guests, so I'm trying to decide if I want to include something about those in the invites, or just put it on our web site. Most people will be from out of town, so I figure they will appreciate some advanced notice about activities on the Friday before and Sunday after, in case they want to arrange their travel plans differently to be able to come to those events.

What are you all doing for invites? PIP if you have them already!

Re: Invitations

  • We have the invitation, response card, reception card, accomodations, and directions card.  I put the website on the accomodations in case they want to look up anything else.  Thankfully most of our out-of-towners that are staying more than one night are family so they will most likely visit with each other and with other local family / friends in the area as they all grew up in the area.  The only other activity we have is the RD planned and a group breakfast at the hotel the next day.  Neither need separate lists since the RD is backyard bbq and the breakfast is provided by the hotel so I'm just going to tell them we should all meet at x time for breakfast.

  • Just the invitation and the RSVP card are going in the envelope.  The more you put, the heavier it is, the more $ it costs to mail each one.

We're have the invite, accommodations card, directions card & the RSVP.  We aren't having any weekend activities...

But for you, I would put in another insert for the activities...'Weekend Activities' or something along the lines of that =)

Here is a pic of our draft, but I think I'm changing the outside design to a strip of lace instead of the butterfly & black swirl so it doesn't look too homemade...  I think it will flow with the design of the invite better.

  • OH!  Maybe you could do a brochure style and put it in with the invite (or send it separately). I think that would be really cute =)  I'm sure someone on the DIY board will have a template!  (and there is always VP!)
  • We're doing just the invite, and ask people to rsvp online. All the other information goes on our site. The not-so-web-savvy (older) people in our family, will get all the information they need from us and FPIL.

  • We're doing invites, RSVP cards/envelopes, and directions.

I sent the website information with the save the dates. On my website there is information on things to do around the area, accomodations, dinner menu, directions, registry, photo sharing website information, and fun stuff like about us, the wedding party, our engagement pictures.

  • I'm undecided as well. I love pocketfolds but I'm starting to realize I might not enough inserts to need a pocket at all lol. My inserts are RSVP and directions basically.
  • Thanks for all the ideas! I like the idea of the brochure, LM! If I don't do that for the invites, I will definitely do it for the OOT guest bags.

  • I think it would be nice to include an activity card with the invite since most of your guests are OOT.  Maybe it can be printed on the back of another card to save paper?

I have an invite, reception card, RSVP card, and accomodation card (hotel provided).  Here are my finished invites... the hotel card is behind the RSVP so you can't see it (it's an ugly card haha):

  • The website link went out with the STD Magnets with all the directions and accomodations.

My invitations are box scrolls. It is the invitation and one insert with the reception details and RSVP via website.

    How cool Carla!

And I loove the colors you chose for your invite K888! Makes them look very cute and fun :)

For you RSVP online girls, are you using a specific website? Or on your wedding website?? I might be interested in that..!

Me too! I looked into on our TK website, but I don't think it is going to work. There is no place to say how many guests are coming, who is your +1, etc.

  • We are including directions, accomodations, etc on the wedding website. We are also doing guest bags for the people who are from OOT and leaving them at the hotel. They will include maps, activities, etc. That being said, I have recieved invitations with everything included. It's just personal preference, I suppose. Good luck!

  • I ordered Invitations, Reception Cards, and Response Cards, and that's all I'm including. I put our website on the STD's but TK changed them so I put the updated URL on our invitations at the bottom too. Our dinner is a buffet so I didn't include a menu or anything. Plus everyone that is coming is tech savvy enough or have GPS's to get directions, and the older people that aren't tech savvy already attend the church we're having the ceremony at and have been to where our reception is before. I put the address on the invitation for the church and the address for the reception site on the reception card, and our website has a link to mapquest with the address of the church and then directions from the church to the receptions site.
