Bed Bath & Beyond and Macy's exchanges without receipt?

We received some items that we've changed our minds on since registering. Does anyone know if Bed Bath & Beyond and Macy's will allow exchanges if we don't have the gift receipt? I've saved every receipt that I was given, but I don't have the ones I need. Will I have a problem?

Hi! My fiance works at Bed Bath & Beyond. I'm up in CT, and several stores here give brides back cash for whatever gifts they don't want EVEN with no receipt. Although, there is no national rules for what each store it allowed to do. You should probably just call the stores near you to figure it out since each one is allowed to do something different.

I just returned some towels yesterday from BB&B, and we didn't have a gift receipt.  It was really easy- we bought a comforter set for our spare bedroom.  They asked at the register if we had a gift receipt, we said nope, they didn't mail it with one, and they didn't ask any other questions.

I've heard that BB&B is really good about returns without gift receipts.  Usually they will just let you exchange it for something else in the store.  Not sure about Macy's.

As long as your registry was scanned when the  gift was purchased, Macy's gives you back whatever your guest paid in store credit. If the registry wasn't scanned, they give you back the lowest selling price within 180 days.
