Registry on FB

Girl I used to work with just put on FB the link to her "house warming" registry. It's basically a wedding registry, but in addition to physical items she lists out exactly what $$ amount gift cards she wants and how many. She's not having a housewarming party, though. She just thinks that since she's had to shell out for everyone else's shower/wedding/baby that it's time she get the favors returned. She's a great gal with a huge sense of humor so this might be a half joke, but I had to share.

Personally, while I would never buy anything for her from it (or do something like this myself), I admire the balls. It makes me think of that episode of Sex & the City where Carrie registers for the pair of shoes her friend wouldn't replace. Giggles abound.

Very little offends me, though. (Actually, I think this offends me less than the people who sit on photobooth and take 300 photos of themselves and then upload all of them multiple times a month. Stop that.)

Thoughts?

Re: Registry on FB

  • I think posting a registry on FB no matter what it's for is tacky personally. When I see someone do that, I don't really think they have balls. I think they don't have manners. Especially because she basically made a registry for nothing--she's not getting married, having a baby, or doing any of the things typically associated with making registries OK etiquette-wise. It would be a big side-eye from me.

  • I think we know the same girl. lol No, really though, one of the girls from my company's sister location is having a random house warming party and set up a HUGE registry at Target. Really? Really? This isn't her first house, she's throwing it herself for gifts, and I don't really know her. No thanks.
  • Housewarming registry??? Here's my housewarming gift for friends: wine. Always wine.
    A registry is pretty ridiculous.
