Buying local "registry" wording?

Hello! My fiancé and I want to let our guests know on our wedding website that while registries are great we also love supporting local artists for decorative items. How do we word this so it doesn't sound like "go hunting for local uniqueness in your hometown for us!"? Since there's not a registries for such things we didn't know what to do.
Thanks!

Re: Buying local "registry" wording?

  • Here's the thing.. registries were created to make it easier for the guests to shop for the bride and groom.
Leaving is so vague and open ended like that, doesn't make it easier. It's like the anti-registry lol.

I'm all for shopping at local stores and small business and definitely supporting local artists.

What about registering with etsy? It's not local, but it's helping lesser known artists. Sorta the same, but not really lol.

Or maybe finding some local artists in the area and seeing if they have their own websites that you can link guests to?

Basically, I just think you should probably plan to give your guests a little more guidance.

Even if you were to figure out a way to do this, there is no way I would buy home decor for someone else without them saying exactly what they want.

  • Since everyone's tastes in art can be different, you'd be taking a very large risk not specifying which pieces or artists you'd like artwork from. If you'd really like to go this route, I'd follow Lia's suggestion of creating a universal registry or linking specific local artists webpages on your registry page.

  • Thanks you guys!  These are great ideas.  We DO also have a target and bbb registry so at least no one will be hopelessly lost.  I might also try the universal stuff or etsy?  I didn't even know you could register with them haha!

It's great, you can locate some artists you like and register for their stuff...

You can link all your registries into one place, etsy, Target AND BBB. This way, instead of having to keep linking people to a bunch of different sites, you give them one link on here:
