Most people on here will tell you it's very rude to ask for giftcards. It's basically the equivalent of asking for money outright. However, some Home Depots have in-store registries. So, you can see if the local store(s) in your area does, and register for things you think you need. People will also take that as a cue to buy you Home Depot gift cards, if they don't want to get something off the registry. You can also spread by word of mouth (ie, through your bridal party and family members) that you are interested in fixing up your home. If people ask you directly, you can say that as well.

ETA: if your home depot doesn't do a registry, try using amazon, or a universal registry instead.
  • Thanks for that advice!
  • Ditto PP about asking for gift cards being like asking for cash.  Look into registering at HD, and you also might consider Sears and Amazon for home improvements stuff and tools.  Many people give cash as a standard wedding gift, which you could obviously use however you wanted, and I bet if you added some HD things to your Amazon universal registry, people might get you HD gift cards, too.
  • We are in the same boat and have been wondering how to add Lowe's gift cards to a registry since they don't have their own registry. We know most stores have those kiosks with tons of gift cards from all over but we weren't sure if you could add that to your registry from that store. So thanks for posting this. Let's us know we aren't the only ones thinking we'd love to improve our home! Smile
