Photography prices range from those just getting started ($1K and under) to the sky is the limit. ($5K+).  Most brides spend somewhere in between (although I personally spent on the higher end as photography was very important to me).  It just depends on what you want to spend.

    This exactly.

We initially booked a budget photographer (one photog, $800 for e-pics and 6 hours wedding day coverage).  It was an area I thought I could save some money after having complete sticker shock.  I quickly learned this avenue was NOT for us and we are now spending about $2500 on our photgraphy package with a more experienced photographer.  It put us a bit over budget but I was willing to work some extra hours over the holidays after seeing the difference in the quality of pics, editing processes, professionalism of the photographers involved, etc.

This does not necessarily hold true for all budget photographers as I know there are some great ones out there -- this was just our experience. Just do thorough research on all of your prospective photographers and make sure to ask to see pictures of a full wedding shoot, not just their photo albums of their best pics.  That alone can show you the true ability of the photographer and if its what you are looking for.

In the end we decided these pics are the only lasting piece of the wedding we'll take away from it and we felt they were worth the additional expense.  Okay, well I decided that... FI didn't care LOL.

As previous posts said it really just depends and also what you want included if you want a bare bones package with just the coverage for only 6 hours it will not be nearly as expensive as 10 hours coverage plus engagement and albums included.  Most of the time you get what you pay for when it comes to photography if you get a newer photog who is just starting out (more of a gamble) you could pay somewhere around 1,000 or so or you could get a super experienced well known photog for thousands or somewhere in between.

My best advice, look around and find a few you like get price quotes and meet with them.  For me it was about personality and meshing well with my photog just as much as it was about their awesome work.

My photographer's basic wedding day package was 2k, and to add a second shooter was $500, I believe.

Ok thank you! I am already married, we spent about 2k. I have a good friend getting married in Dallas as she needed some help. She thought we were lying about quality photography.

They are looking to book with Blackerby Photography. They are Austin based as well, but for 2011 its 8 hours photography, 2 photographer & printing rights for $1500. Think she thought it might be too good to be true. We really like their team though. I have worked with them on other events and been pleased.

I will send your suggestions also, thanks again!

There is a great photographer based out of Denton and she charges 1100 for two photographers for about 6 hours. Her name is Jillian Zamora and her photos are the quality of someone much more expensive. I would high suggest her!
