Aruba.com Registry?

Hi! We are going to Aruba for our honeymoon, and I think it would be nice to register for some extras on the island. Has anyone used the registry on aruba.com? I'm pretty sure it's legit since it's through the official tourism website, but I would love someone else's feedback!

    Thinking of a honeymoon registry?

You probably won't find a lot of feedback here, because honeymoon registries are not popular on these forums.

The main issue I have with these sites is that they are misleading. To the guest, it looks like they are buying, say, a gift certificate for a massage, but really, the company is cutting you a check, less a substantial commission.

Why would you want to give a portion of your wedding money to a company? Anyone who is OK with these registries is likely also OK with just giving you money. Create a small registry, and leave it at that. Most people get the hint with tiny registries that the couple would prefer cash.

Edited to add: ESPECIALLY if you are in NYC. I lived there for four years, and I don't think any of my friends ever got many physical gifts. It seemed like cash was the go-to gift anyway.

  • Since you will probably already get cash gifts, just use that money for extras on your HM. People know cash is an appreciated gift and don't need you to tell them via a deceitful cash registry.
