Registering at Macy's & Crate and Barrel

Does anyone have any advice, horror stories, anything worth mentioning about registering at these two places? Things you wish you knew before you registered there? We are doing the registering event at C & B too.

Thanks!

Re: Registering at Macy's & Crate and Barrel

  • I registered for Crate and Barrel on a normal day but I wish I would have signed up for their registry events.  They have some coming up I think next month at all of their stores.  The store opens up early just for couples looking to register, it's usually on a Sunday morning.

I'm doing both and I love both.  Keep in mind that Macy's is nice because it adds stuff to the your registry in the order you scan it - so if you get bothered by things looking inconsistent with the stuff next to it (i'm a little OCD about that sort of thing), be careful to look at everything in a given section - like, say, china - before scanning so the order is right.

CB is one of the best designed registry websites out there.  I can spend hours on it because it's pretty much flawless.

  • I'm registered at Macy's and it is great. It is really easy to access it online and add/make changes. They also always have great sales. They have reward programs that are really beneficial as well.
  • Both sound expensive...if you want my honest opinion.

  • Just went to Macy's to cash in gift cards from our wedding. We pretty much got everything on our registry minus our linens $260 a set! (worth a shot, right?) But I was able to get 20 percent off today plus 15 percent for my "registry completion"... Macy's also gives you a gift card w 5% back from every gift purchased off your registry... Macy's and crate and barrel are good mid level stores with nice things and name brands that aren't over the top or cheap. We wanted to replace the Target and BBB purchases we made as single people w items that would hold their value and quality for years and years to come....my guests raved about the service they received at Macy's (plus the constant sales) and Williams Sonoma.,..also a great place to register!

</div><div>Really?? good to know! I'll have to keep my ADHD & excitement in check when running around with my scanner. </div><div>
</div><div>Both options fit within our guests budget and I personally don't fine Macy's or C & B to be expensive at all. Most of our house stuff is from C & B and we love all of their stuff. </div><div>
</div><div>Thanks for the advice! Would like to know more about C & B though. I'm excited to go to the registry event in a couple weeks.</div>

Depends on what you add. All that matters is that you have a good range of prices for your guests. I am also registered at Macy's and C&B and I love it. C&B has alot of really cute things that are super cheap. Like under 10 bucks cheap. I think that's pretty freaking cheap if you ask me.

C&B is actually quite affordable for kitchen gadgets, glassware, etc.  It's very easy to hit all price points at C&B.  I'm happy with the quality of our registry gifts.  Believe me, OP could do a lot worse than Macy's and C&B.

  • I'm a huge fan of Crate & Barrel.  Their customer service is hands down the best and, as another poster pointed out, their online system is great.  In terms of prices, it depends on what you're buying.  However, compared to Macy's, their regular prices are usually cheaper (i.e., buy on sale at Macy's or get ripped off).  I have a registry at Macy's, too, but it annoys me that they assume you will buy on sale!
  • They're both great stores, and you could definitely find things at all price points at both locations.

I'm registered at both, and I also really like the C&B website for registering - they just are a great online store overall.
