Cancelling a registry?

We've decided to cancel our target.com registry due to their political donations that we don't agree with.  Does anyone have any ideas how to delete a registry?  I can delete items, but not just cancel the whole thing.  Any advice would be appreciated!

How did you find out to whom they donate? I saw they have an employee-contribution PAC....
  • Thanks ladies!
Aimers-they gave money to a group, Minnesota Forward who in turn donated money to a gubernatorial candidate who does not support marriage equality.  We heard news reports and then did some searching online.  We found a website, opensecrets.org that allows you to search various campaign and candidates contributors.
  • Not sure how to delete a whole Target registry.  But do you have a list of the items on your Target registry that are also available at other stores?  Maybe now you can try using an online registry instead?  I just started my registry with MyRegistry.com, and this allows me to add items my wish list from any store in the world.  This might be helpful for you too...especially if you are finding the same items that you had on your Target registry at a lot of different stores.  This way you can still have the items that you found at Target on your registry...no matter what other stores you find them at.
  • I want to give you a hug ogrady88!  I hope you can get it deleted.

  • Has anyone already purchased items that are on that registry? Just keep a record so that you don't re-register for those at other stores. If the store delivers the gifts at a certain date, and that date hasn't happened yet, it might be awkward to cancel.

I hear you, though... there are a lot of American businesses I'm learning I would not support because of things like that.
  • Luckily, we're still early enough in the game that gifts most likely have not been purchased.  It is a small step, but FI and I discussed this at length and we both decided that in this situation it was the right thing to do.  It is frustrating though, looking at all of the money that gets pumped into campaigns through corporations.
  • Good for you for standing your ground! That's fantastic. Unforunately I am also no help in knowing how to cancel a registry? Maybe try calling customer service and see if they know? Otherwise I would do what PP suggested in deleting all the items and waiting for it to expire.

    Good luck!
