So FI and I are starting our registry on amazon.com. Since we've lived together for over a year now we already have most of what we need in our tiny apartment. I am upgrading a few things such as bedding, his juicer, china, etc. but thats only like 15 items. FI made me remove all the low sticker price items because he claims its an insult in his culture if you give "cheap" gifts. meanwhile I thought it showed consideration of people's budget. The few things we have decided on are rather pricey though and i worry people will be offended at the price tag. I'm not familar with many of his family but FI assures me this is okay. At the one wedding i went to with his family they gave a monetary gift upwards of 1K. This is alot! Im not sure what to expect but Im pretty sure my family wont shell up several hundred dollars for a set of sheets. How do i moderate this without too much conflict and not adding too many random items?
