My FMIL first asked me the other week about what I wanted for gifts to start telling people. I informed her then that my FI had already registered, so everything we want specifically is on the registry. Apparently she has no idea what a registry is. I talked to her again today, she is hosting one of my wedding showers. She told me that she didn't think that any of her family would buy anything from my registry, that they will just get the things I need from wherever they feel like. She wasn't saying it in a mean way or anything, but I am sensitive and was like um ok. She was thinking her family would be buying like the plates and such, and asked what my side would probably be buying, which I have no idea. I don't just want her family picking out whatever they think I want if I say I need dishes you know? I reinforced the notion that they could just go online to my registries, I have 3 of the, Macy's, Bed Bath & beyond, and Sears, and they could order online or go to the store. I tried to explain how it easy it is to do that it that way. I also emailed her, and told again what the registries were, and to make sure and put it on the shower invites...I don't know what else to do here. I ended up just telling her well I guess they can go to other stores but as long as they keep the receipt because I am not sure if I would already have that or not...
