My fiance and I are moving to Hawaii 2 months after our wedding in upstate New York. We are selling our apartment, our cars, and getting rid of every piece of furniture. I know I will get a few larger family heirlooms from my grandmother, and want to save what little space we will have for things like that. Many places do not ship items to Hawaii, and the ones that do charge very high rates... I don't want my guests to spend more on the shipping than they would on the gift. How do we respectfully request cash and gift cards in lieu of larger items that we will be unable to take with us on our move?
