Kohl's Registry (wrong choice)

I have always loved Kohl's until now. Their registry system is antiquated and their customer service representatives are unable to help. We were supposed to get 12 place settings, but only got 8. When we called, they could not tell us if it was lost in the mail or if it had been ordered at all! All of the customer service representatives and supervisors we talked to were nice, but they all insisted no one could see who orders things on the registry. Are you kidding me? In this day and age? We still do not know if some relative is waiting for a thank you note and is out their $160 or what happened. It was very disappointing and we have decided to close our Kohl's charges and never shop their again.

  • I had issues with Kohls too. If someone ordered online the gift gets automatically sent to the bride and groom there is no other option. My guests were pissed and went to other stores.

  • I have had a wonderful experience with Kohls. Sorry to hear you ladies didn't.

  • My SIL had a registry through Kohl's, and as a guest I hated shopping there.  It seemed like stuff was NEVER on sale.  I found it shocking because I get clothes there occasionally, which are also a percentage off, but the kitchen area seems to have little-to-no-sales.  Before her shower I waited weeks for something - anything - to go on sale and it never did, so I hit up her PB registry instead.  I also heard after the fact that she had issues, so I guess it happens.  To be fair, though, I've heard problems with just about every registry out there.
  • We started a registry with Kohls and ended up only adding a couple things to it and don't plan to tell anyone about it. The process of starting one was a PITB and way more stressful then it should have been.

We are registered at Kohl's, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Target, and it was the easiest to register for gifts at Kohl's.  Target was fine, but there were issues at Bed Bath and Beyond with the scanner not working and then someone wanted to come around with me and write things down and then add them herself later.  Yeah, that wasn't going to happen.  I just went back another day.

People have bought me some gifts off of my Kohl's registry, but I have no idea what that experience was like for them.  I do know that in the past I have bought gifts for people off of Kohl's registries, but I bought the items in the store and never had them shipped anywhere, so don't know what that is like.

  • I was planning on registering at Kohl's since I like their towels and I know a LOT of family shops there.  Good to know!

  • I used to work for Kohl's....their registry system is ANTIQUATED beyond all freaking belief. As a cashier I wanted to rip my hair out every time someone came up with one of those sheets of paper.

Also...as a PP said, Kohl's is surprisingly expensive for always having sales. It doesn't help that their sales are usually restricted to people with a Kohl's charge card or who are willing to take the ding on their credit record to apply for one just for the discount. Kind of deceptive, if you ask me.

I'd heard that about Kohls- went with Macy's instead since their stuff is almost always on sale.

  • i get that the system might not be that up to date, but i'm shocked that someone said their stuff is never on sale. my brother registered there and i bought a ton of stuff during the president's day sale and i felt like they were giving things away! ever since then i've been on their email list and they email me about sales like, every day. i also got 20 dollars in "kohls bucks" for my order which i ended up  using for her shower gift. everything was so inexpensive i honestly didn't understand how they could make money. i don't plan to register there becuase i don't really shop there, but if you want some less expensive options for your guests i think this is a MUCH better option than target where my cousin registered, which was a nightmare.
  • I tried to buy a gift at Kohls off a reigstry for a wedding I attended in March. I had the most difficult time actually FINDING anything on the registry. Nothing seemed to be in stock or match up at all. When I was able to find a salesperson to help me track something down, they had a difficult time as well. I gave up at Kohls and went to BBB instead - was in and out in 15 minutes there!
