Sheets to register for

I am trying to decide whether to register for sheets at PB or BBB. We will just be registering for plain white, so pattern doesn't matter.  BBB seems to be much cheaper for a higher thread count than PB.  Any personal recommendations available at either store? We are not going to add another registry (have a CB as well but I don't like CB linens)

We have a queen pillowtop. I believe it is about 15" deep so everything we own at the moment will not stay put, so extra deep sheets are a must.

Re: Sheets to register for

  • I would go with BBB.  I've never used PB sheets, but if the thread count at BBB is higher and the price is better then I think BBB is the way to go.  Even moreso since you're only looking to register for white sheets.  I could understand going with PB if it was a specific color or pattern, but that doesn't appear to be the case here.

  • We have a pillow top, too, so the extra deep pockets are definitely helpful.  We bought the Wamsutta brand at BBB.  They're either 300 or 400 count - can't remember which.  We like them and I think they wash up nicely.

  • I did both.  I registered for PB ones that I liked and BBB (Wamsutta Sateen 525 thread count).  I have had a lot of luck with Wamsutta sheets in the past and I don't think you can go wrong with PB for anything!

We received both sets which I am thrilled about!  I love clean sheets and I figure, I change the sheets weekly, why not have a few extra sets?

  • We are registering for PB sheets.  I bought sheets from BBB a couple years ago, and the color bled.  I'm sure there are other ones there that are ok, but I liked the PB ones better.

  • Ditto the PP who mentioned the Wamsutta sheets at BBB. There are a few different types and a few different thread counts, but overall they are a good name in sheets. Their Palais Royal sheets (the 650 Egyptian cotton ones) are also very very nice. I do highly recommend going into the store to feel the sample sheets so that you find ones you like. There are 400 thread count sheets that have sateen in them that are softer than some regular cotton 600 thread count sheets, so you really do need to feel them to make sure you find ones that suit your personal preferences.

I loooooove the PB sheets.  They're percale, which means that they are softer than your standard-issue sateen sheets, even though they are a lower thread count than most of the ones at BBB.  You should really feel thm and decide for yourself, but personally I chose the 300 TC pottery barn sheets over the wamsutta at BBB, and I seriously considered both.  I actually chose them over Macy's sheets also.  I thought they both felt nice, but there was like a $200 difference.
