Home improvement registry

my Fi and I are in our early 30's, never married before but have been so fortunate in our lives & careers to obtain all that we truly need to start our lives together. We have a home that we would like to update. If we were to register for gifts they would be new appliances that would be expensive and the only ones able to buy out right would be our giving parents who are already giving so much for our wedding. I have been to numerous weddings where people have asked for honeymoon funds. I see so many answers to the question "how do I ask for cash" as negative, but in all honesty there are plenty of brides like me who don't need a department store registry. So I would like to hear suggestions of eloquently asking for funds to put towards improving our home.
Your positive feedback is appreciated!

Re: Home improvement registry

  • The Home Depot in my hometown has a gift regitry.  You might want to see if yours does?

Also, I don't think it's rude asking for home improvement items on a registry.  What's the point of having a house warming party when you buy a new home???  Usually so your friends can come over and see what your new home is like and most times buy somehting to put into your new home.  We when bought our home, we didn't register anywhere because we didn't think about it.  We just wanted people to come over and see the house.  We ended up with a lot of home depot and lowes gift cards that we used to continue upgrades in our home. I think it could be used similarly for a wedding registry.  Especially if most of your friends and family know that you are working on your home.
