My FH and I were engaged earlier this year and my parents are throwing us an engagement party this month. Immediately after we got engaged, family and friends starting asking where we were registered so we started registering for items at a few stores. We haven't publicized the information yet but my mom told people when they asked while RSVP'ing for the party.
In advance of the party, we have started getting gifts from family and friends (like an espresso maker and vacuum). My question, do we start to use that stuff now or hold onto it for the next year until after the wedding? FH and I live together so it is a little tempting to break open the vacuum and go to town around the apartment but I don't know the protocol. We of course sent thank you notes for gifts received already.
