Is that your only requirement?  Or are you looking for a certain price range?

    Glenn Roush Entertainment
    A Wave of Music
    Figment Productions
    Melody and Memories

those are few that this board has used!

We used a guy in Austin named Johnny Robinson. He didn't charge extra for the travel and was VERY affordable. Everyone LOVED him and I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

He was booked through Groove Labs, but you can email him directly at jrobinson242@gmail.com

You can tell him Bethany referred you.

    this was my vendor review:
A++ - Johnny is by far, the sweetest, most talented guy I’ve ever met. He was Austin based, but didn’t charge any extra for the travel. We emailed back and forth at first, and then had several phone calls. I put together a list of “Must Play” songs and he used that to create a whole playlist. It sounded like we had put our own Ipods on the turntable – that’s how good he was at interpreting our tastes from a sampling of about 20 songs. And, honestly, he’s just the nicest person you could meet. His prices are VERY reasonable and I think you can fit him into almost any budget. He did our outdoor service, and indoor reception, including wireless mics, full sound set up, and lights, for $800.

We're using Damany with iEntertainment. He had a lot of awesome ideas and came very highly recommended from my photog and DOC (who aren't connected, btw). But like Glen Roush, he's an investment.

My DJ is DJ Bad Holly.
She's not particularly traditional (but has experience doing weddings) - more 60's soul and fun 80's dance music than "hip hop" or current pop... (lots of subcultural/offbeat stuff, too) - but totally willing to do what the couple wants!

I'm using Jeff from J-Team. He runs about $750 for 5 hours

Melodies & Memories--we used Melody. She was AWESOME and the dance floor was packed all night. She is also significantly cheaper than some of the others mentioned here, but she pretty much acts as a day-of coordinator too. Look up the reviews on weddingwire. Really--I cant say enough good things about her. When the woman running the catering didn't show up, she saved our reception.

I used Your Special Day DJ.  He actually got out and showed us how to do all the dances.  He's young and he has a lot of energy.

We did DJ Connections but they are a bigger chain kind of thing. For everything we wanted they had the best price. I heard it's kind of hit or miss with them sometimes.

I used James from Melody and Memories and he was great!  He kept the music going and knew what would keep the crowd dancing.  He was very hands on and listened to all request and played all our "Must-play" songs!!!  He kept everything moving and when we wanted to change it up in the middle of the ceremony he never let on that it wasn't always suppose to go in that order!

We used Lori from Melodies and Memories.  If you just want music played and let her do what she wants, she's fine but if you want something specific or are going for a music theme, I wouldn't use her.  She didn't get people on the floor because we requested mostly country or slower songs because of our crowd and she mostly  played booty shaking music.  She also did no play our Must Play list and she didn't bring the equipment to our ceremony which left us going all over town in the rain at night to find something to work.  For anyone you go with, I would double/triple check with them the day before to make sure everything is covered, especially equipment wise.

I can't say enough good things about my DJ from last weekend... I haven't written a review or added him to the vendor list yet, but he was amazing! Paul Calvin (MC) and Sean P (DJ) of Something New Music. They are both young and really fun, and could totallly read our crowd and every song that came on was exactly what we needed to keep the dancing and party going. We didn't want anything traditional at our wedding, and they delivered! They aren't cheap, but are definitely less than some of the other options out there.

wow thank you all so much for the recommendations!  I've already started checking some of these out! :)

bsn - we are on a budget (trying to keep it under $700).  I'm just now learning how much of a price difference there can be!!

Melody and Memories is who we are using! I have also been to 2 weddings that "Melody" did and she was amazing!! I DO KNOW that there equipment was recently stolen however I believe they have found it! This may be why shortgirltx had a problem.  I can not say enough GOOD things about Melody this business is most definitely her passion!!!

    Good Luck
