Rehearsal dinner suggestions

We're trying to find a reasonably priced rehearsal dinner location for Friday night. Ideally, near M streets since that's where the church is, but places somewhat in the vicinity are fine too. Any suggestions?

Re: Rehearsal dinner suggestions

  • Our RD was at Times Ten Cellars, which is in Lakewood.  We used Times Ten Too, their party room, which holds about 85 guests.  They have the option of just renting some of the larger spaces in the main building, with capacity of up to 55 (I think).  They let you select four wines from their list and you can bring in your own caterer, but if you use one of their preferred (they have a list of about 20) they give you a discount on every bottle of wine they open.  It was so much fun I'd recommend it to everyone!

  • We are using Campisi's downtown, but I know there is one off Mockingbird in that area too.

  • I thought about Campisi's too but was worried about the parking at the Mockingbird location. Especially on a Friday night.
  • How big is your party for the RD?  St Martin's Wine Bistro has a party room and can also design a four-course meal for one price for you.  They also have valet parking.

  • We had ours at Blue Mesa across from Northpark.

They have been wonderful to work with. Let me put together a prix fixe menu of 4 selections, and everything.

Although, my father took it upon himself to tell me he was menu stalking and already knows what he's ordering. I had to break it to him that I didn't arrange for that.

The one on Mockingbird is not an option.  They want you to pay for the turnover of every table they would get during the time that you have that part of the restaurant.  So, say that they turn over a table once every hour, you need five tables (on the low side) for three hours.  Yeah, just triple the cost of each guests dinner.

  • We're thinking it will be around 50 people, maybe a little higher. Times Ten does sound great and I'm definitely going to check it out now! Also, I've called St Martin and they said they wouldn't be able to hold as many people as we'll probably have.

And thanks for the heads up on Campisi's on mockingbird! That saves me an extra call.

Have you been there on a Friday or Saturday night?  The line's out the door.

ETA:  Plus that's their flagship.  I was not necessarily surprised.
