Hello all:
So my fiancee' and I have been together for 4 years, and have been living together in a house next door to my parents (very "Everybody loves Raymond" but in a good way 
). At first, I thought that I would shy away from creating a registry with household items since we definitely have a full stocked house. However, most of what we bought when we first moved in together was hand-me-downs or the cheapest Walmart special one could buy. I started thinking that it would awesome to get a new mattress, a new sofa, new plates.... but I have 2 questions:
1.) Are there any types of gifts that are a waste of time to put in a registry, like a mattress? I've never seen that on a registry, but darn, that would be fabulous to get!!
2.) Are there any types of gifts that might turn people off since we've established a house together (we rent, we don't own) for a while now? I just don't want to turn off any of the traditional relatives who are looking to give a gift
