1st shower in 5 days...virtually nothing gone from registry

I am getting really nervous. Our showers start on Monday (there are 5, 3 being next week & 2 the week after) and almost nothing was bought from our registry. I know that people buy off-registry items, but these are going to be big showers & it worries me that items aren't being purchased.

When do people usually buy gifts? I am getting really anxious about this...

  • Don't watch the registry.

Did people rsvp (how many)?  They will show up with gifts, dont worry too much.

  • Why are you nervous?  There is nothing you can do, and the "worst" thing that happens is you get presents that weren't on your registry.  Stop checking your registry, and remember that people often shop last minute, especially for showers.

<div>5 showers over the course of two weeks? I hope the same people aren't invited/expected to bring gifts to all of them!</div><div>
</div><div>As far as things not being gone from the registry, I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe these people decided to purchase off registry, or maybe they purchased a gift that was on your registry but didn't indicate to the store that it was for a registry. </div>
  • 5 big showers?  Whoa!  I would be concerned that people thought I was being gift grabby.

But like PP said, there's nothing you can do.  People will buy gifts or they won't.  It's nice if they do, but it's not a bad thing if they don't.  Stop looking at your registry and stop thinking about gifts.
  • The majority of my gifts were bought within the last few days before the the showers!
  • I uaually pick up shower gifts on the way to the shower and put them in a gift bag.

  • I work for a school district...I have 2 blds & a dept. The other 2 are from family. There was really nothing I could do about the number of showers from work, since they are all thrown by different people that don't know eachother. Family had to be separate because they are on opposite sides of the state. No one (except for mom's & sister) is invited to more than 1 shower.

Its very hard to not look at the registry...its so addicting. I don't do well with surprises or anticipation.

  • Everywhere I've worked, people just collect cash and give it in a card for work showers, and maybe buy something small so the bride has something to open.
As far as everyone stopping at the store en route to the shower, this is how I ended up with 4 mellon ballers, 2 coffee grinders, and 3 cheese graters. Luckily, registry returns are easy.

I always wait until the last damn minute to buy shower gifts.

  • Maybe they will be coming with money instead of gifts!  Just a thought.
  • Usually work showers give money, at least in my experience.  Also, for my showers, most items were bought the day before or day of.  Don't worry!

  • Here's another thought.  I'd say 50-75% of the people who bought gifts for me bought them off my registry but didn't update my registry for me.  It's very, very frustrating but it could explain why nothing has been 'bought' too.

Don't worry too much!  Just enjoy your parties!
