I'm not sure what the right thing to do here is...
My dad and I received an invitation to my cousin's daughter's first birthday party. I would love to go, but we can't. I want to send a gift from us, anyway.
The thing is, I never sent something for her son's birthday before. I sent something last year when the daughter was first born and a little gift for the son, too, since it was near the holidays, anyway.
My question is...
Would it be weird if I also send a belated birthday gift to him? Or should I forgo a bday gift for him and stick to giving just her a birthday gift, then waiting a few days and sending Chanukah gifts to both of them? Or something else all together?
I'm not very close to her at all, so I feel very awkward. As it is I have to call her to RSVP and I've never spoken to her on the phone before.
FWIW, I would like to become closer to her, but I don't think that's ever going to happen due to where we live.
