Embroidery services for BM gifts

So I found some clutches that I'd love to get my BMs (not for the wedding, they are all different to each girl's likes/personality) and I'd love to have someone embroider (is that how you spell it?) a personal message on the inside. How in the world do I find someone to do this? I'm not even sure how to word that to search. Has anyone done this?

Re: Embroidery services for BM gifts

  • If the lining is sewed in, then I'm not totally sure how you would have the inside embroidered without it showing on the outside of the clutch.  Look at the back of something that is embroidered and you'll see what I mean.

Maybe instead of embroidery just include a heartfelt note?
  • I'm not sure about the embroidery, either.  Maybe you could find someone to embroider or make little tags on Etsy, and then you (or a tailor) could just sew them into the lining?
  • I would first check with stores that do sports jersey's and/or letter mens jackets. Possibly your alteration gal could help. Also if mcskatcat is correct you could get a piece of cloth embroidered then have them sow that inside.

  • Ladies, I just found this place in a magazine just a few days ago that do embroidery for weddings or whatever you would like to embroider. Look it up online for the hours of operation and more info. Don't fret, I'll give a helping hand.

  • i know they make fabric that is like paper so you can write on it, but then you can iron it on (sort of like the iron on printer paper). my MOH's mother uses this on quilts. not sure what it's called though.

  • Many drycleaners also offer embroidery services but as has been said above:

If the lining is sewn in then the embroidery will show through to the outside (unless the seamstress also removes the lining, does the embroidery and puts it back together and this will be expensive).

The charge will be by the letter so a message will quickly add up in cost.

Very nice idea but won't be cheap. It might be cheaper to find a pattern, have a seamstress that can also do machine embroidery make the entire clutch. It still won't be cheap.

As suggested above, a note tucked in to the bag will be easier and less costly.
  • If you're set on embroidery, you could have little fabric tags embroidered and then iron them into the bag (using fusible web or something similar that you can sandwich between the tag and the lining fabric). Do you know anyone who has a sewing machine that can embroider? I know my mom's can do letters, it's not perfect but it works.

  • Not sure you can embroider / sew something inside the clutches but maybe you can throw in a hankie with special note embroidered on it.  This is what I did for my BMs gift.  This website can be very helpful http://www.lil-inspirations.com/
