2 purchased, 0 requested.

So I'm registry stalking at BBB and noticed 2 purchased for an item called "Ice Cube Try Skulls"... number requested: ZERO.  No picture of the item.  I googled it out of curiosity and found that the item is fulfilled but zero requested on other couples' registries too.

How odd. Anyone know what's up or had a similar experience?

Re: 2 purchased, 0 requested.

  • If anyone purchased something for your registry and something for themselves within the same purchase it will show up on your registry.  Whoever purchased the ice cube tray probably purchased them for themselves.

  • Or, they decided they didn't like anything you registered for and found something else to give you instead.  Believe me this happens.  I worked at Macy's and one time this older woman did not like anything on the couples registry as it wasn't her taste!  She instead found them the most hideous floral placemats only and old woman would adore and added it to the registry.

Like PP said it's probably something they bought for themselves, but I'd leave it on there anyway, in case it was actually for you.  It makes returns a breeze.  BBB is very good about returns anyway, but it's still nice to have proof.  I would only delete items like that which are clearly personal - like I've seen candy, hairspray, even tampons appear on BBB registries now that some BBBs are adding a small convenience store section to their stores.  Those items you can delete, but I'd leave home goods on there.

This just happened to me.  If they pick something out for themselves while they are buying your gift, the cashier may not be paying attention to the fact that it isn't on the registry or forget to x out of the registry when they are buying the item.

Mine was a roll of shelf liner.  I deleted it off the registry to avoid confusion.

  • Yeah, happened on my registry, too.  Apparently people didn't like the nice kitchen towels we picked out to match our kitchen and substituted towels they felt like buying instead.

<div>This always blows my mind. I work as a registry consultant for one of the major stores, and it always secretly pisses me off when people do this. I had a couple come in the other day, and even though the registry they were picking from had 12!! pages of stuff left, they decided they didn't like ANY of it and instead bought this wooden cheese plate that *they* liked. The woman goes "I think it's nice when the bride and groom accept gifts not on their registry." I wanted to scream "THEY TOOK THE TIME TO PICK OUT ALL THIS STUFF! JUST PICK SOMETHING FROM THE DAMN LIST!!!" lol :)</div><div>
    </div><div>Ahhh people. :-P</div>

My grandma did this for the shower. She got us really random dish towels and placemats with shells on them. I love my grandma, but she's so kooky! She also bought my lesbian cousin a pink sweatshirt for Christmas. She, of course, threw a fit. Ugh. I know that I'll use the towels all the time and they will make me think of my grandma. Super happy!

  • So I just noticed this exact thing on my BBB registry...someone purchased 3 sets of plates (yay thank you!) however not the pattern we chose, but a similar pattern. I'm going to assume these are gifts for the shower my dad's family is throwing later this summer when we are visiting...so what do I say (aside from the obvious thank you) and do when opening them in front of everyone? And the following thank you note? Since its not the pattern we chose, should I delete them so others don't get confused for future purchases??

Guess I wasn't expecting items purchased that were not on the registry to show up since we were told that only we could add or delete items! I understand that people will buy items not on the registry, just wasn't expecting to see it.
