Luggage

My FMIL said it wasn't worth it to register for luggage, as no one ever buys it.

So...did you register for luggage?  If so, did any purchase it for you?

Re: Luggage

  • Can't vote because we haven't gotten any gifts yet--but we registered for a whole set. I hope we get it!

  • I received cash for my shower which I used to buy luggage.  I live in London, which is why I received cash, people wanted me to buy things here so I didn't have to travel with my gifts.  Instead I bought small things I know would be expensive here, plus the luggage.

I would put it on, you never know what people will get you, plus at the end you can get it with your discount.

OR if you are member of Costco we got ours from there, I am happy with it and I travel international several times per year so I don't want cheap crap.
  • PS I am also planning on buying my cousin's luggage off her registry and giving her Great British flag luggage tags as part as the gift.  On the card I will write about how I hope they use it to visit us in London.  I think it fits for us.

  • I checked my cousin's registry and she got two of her pieces from BBB.

  • NCV2--that's such a sweet gift idea for your cousin.

We registered for 2 pieces of Travelpro luggage from BBB, and we received it already.
  • We registered for 3 pieces of luggage but only got one and bout the other 2 with cash we got. DH travels a lot for work and our old set was really beat up so we were happy to get some of it.

  • I've seen some people get it.

Just register for it.  If someone gets it, great!  If not, not a big deal, and now you have a completion discount you can use on it,

  • Thanks everyone!  We decided to register for it.  If no one gets it for us, oh well.

It's one of the things I'm most excited about registering for! If anything, we'll buy it for ourselves afterwards. We definitley need some!

  • It was actually the first gift purchased off our registry, and my MIL was complaining because she'd been planning on buying it but someone beat her to it.  Even if no one buys it, it's good to get new luggage if you don't already have some, and you can use your completion discount.

  • luggage is expensive... I don't think any of our aunts, uncles or cousins would drop 150-200$ on a peice of luggage. I would rather buy it myself. Most of our registered gifts range from 10$ (towels, ect) to about 100$ (fine china,silverware).. I think anything over that is a bit extreme.

  • We registered for some Samsonite spinners through JC Penney, and they are the one big ticket item on our registry-- everything else is less than $100 with most items in the $30-$80 range.  It is, by far, our most wanted item (or, set of items-- we registered for a small, medium, and large) so I'm crossing my fingers that a few relatives decide to "team up" and get us the set (or part of it) as a group gift.
  • We decided not to register for it.  Really, we need the luggage for the HM, so it would be a bummer if we registered for it in hopes of getting it and then not get it.  TJ Maxx and Marshall's usually have great sets, so my plan is to stalk those stores for a few months until I see a set a I like.

  • Definitely register for it. The worst that could happen is you don't get it. But some places offer a discount to you on the things you don't get starting the day after your wedding, so you could always get it for yourself. When I was a bridesmaid a few years back, the other BMs and I went in on a few pieces for the B&G. They loved it! Yeah, it's expensive, but you never know if people will go in together- or if somebody is feeling especially generous :)
  • Luggage was also the first thing bought off of our registry....I also vote for you to register for it!  Worst case, you don't get it.
