grooms "unusual" gift.

it isnt really that unusual to me, but i want to get him an old time spittoon. a metal one like you used to find on trains. he saw my grammas old one from a local rail line and about pooped himself.

he is a big time chewer, and while i would never let him actually use it, it is something he has always wanted.
problem is, i want it to say his last name. anyone know of metal engraving sites that do things like this?

Re: grooms "unusual" gift.

  • Did you find the spittoon yet, or your looking for one as well as engraving it?

If you have one and just need it engraved, Things Remembered (they're at a lot of malls, at least in the northeast) will engrave any item from any store so long as you have the receipt to prove how much you paid for it (they charge you based on the original cost of the item, I guess to cover their butts in case something goes wrong)

[QUOTE]DO NOT ENGRAVE IT if it's an antique. That will ruin its value.

</div><div>If it's not a true antique, you could always have a plaque made and have it attached.  That would be less wear and tear on the metal.</div><div>
</div><div>I would go to a trophy store, or look for an ironworks store that sells statues.  You could also check and see if you have a local artist guild in your area that specializes in metalworking/engraving.</div>
  • thanks guys. its not going to be an actual antique, unless i find one at an antique shop, in which case i wouldnt engrave it. i will only engrave it if i find one new
