A mutual friend of my FI and mine wants to give us her wedding ring set now that she's divorced and she knows money is tight. Her line of thinking is that the rings no longer have any meaning to her and she wants to give them to us knowing that they'll go to a lloving relationship. She also suggested that I take them and have the diamonds put in a different setting because her fingers are much smaller than mine. However, I am having trouble getting over the extravagance of the gift, feeling it's too much (the diamond in the engagement ring is 2c alone) Both my mom and another another friend has said it would be rude not to accept the gift. What are your thoughts on it? Should I just accept and thank her or do I refuse?
