Food Label PIP

I'm having a very casual buffet dinner without a caterer. I wanted to find a way to label the food so guests knew what they were being served & so FMIL knew what she could eat (she's gluten free). Here's what I came up with. The flower matches the flowers I'm using in my centerpieces and bouquet. I'll use a bigger piece of prettier paper and print the words on a mailing label and attach it. What do you think?

Re: Food Label PIP

  • I love it!!! I was actually thinking of something very similar (but smaller) for the place cards at our table. We are having individual place cards and have to indicate people's meal choices somehow.

I bought plain place cards at Staples and was going to print them myself in a nice font. I then wanted to find some kind of hydrangea flower to put either on the card itself, or just like this. Blue for beef, purple for chicken, white for veggie. What kind of stand are you using to hold the paper? That's my only stumbling block right now. I was thinking of using wine corks.

It looks fantastic - thanks for sharing!

  • that's really pretty - what a great idea!!! I love it! We are not having a buffet (we are having plated dinners) but if we were, I would totally steal this idea!
  • Thanks! It never occurred to me to do this since the food choices will be small but I went to a buffet brunch the other day & was totally turned off that I had no clue what things were. Super cheap - the flowers were $.99 at Michael's with the clips already attached and the stands are $1.48 for 4 of them at Wal Mart.

newenglandorr - the stand is actually an office binder clip! Originally I was thinking of spray painting the black part but couldn't decide on a single color that would go well with all of the colors of the flowers. I think I'll just leave them black.
