Your advice

Ok. So I thought I wanted to have my wedding at Winfrey point, but didn't realize what I want for my wedding will be very costly. It was suggested to me to get a venue that offered all that I wanted. "all Inclusive" is how I read it. Which I am looking for drapery and lighting. The thing is, I'm not quite sure of where to start researching for an all Inclusive venue. Any suggestions on where to start?

Re: Your advice

  • What area of dallas are you looking for? Are you wanting a church wedding and then a seperate reception or have them both at the same place? Plus price point you are looking for just the venue...

  • It depends on what exactly you are looking for. Hotels are pretty allinclusive, and there are also chapels that include everything. What areas are you looking for? Downtown? Suburbs?

  • Anywhere in Dallas is fine. I just don't want the wedding to be so far out that it is an inconvience for people to attend. At this point, I really don't care if they are at the same location or not. Of course budget is a big factor, but I am feeling pressured for a location, so I am willing to follow all leads..
  • Actually rose, to be honest, I don't know what a good budget would be. I would think maybe 2000, but for drapery and lighting, I'm not sure if that budget is reasonable.
  • I'm open to any area. The best price will always turn my head, but I am open to any area, and location. As long as its not too far out for my guest to drive.

Do you have your heart set on lighting and draping? Because that is going to add to your costs no matter what venue you go with. No venue is going to include it. But if you find a venue that suits your tastes, you might find you don't need it. Otherwise, you need to factor that in no matter what.

When I said "all inclusive" I meant a venue that will have more for you:  tables, chairs, set up/take down, etc. so that you're not having to do it all yourself.  Hotels and country clubs are the first ones that come to mind but they are on the higher end budget wise.  There are still nice less expensive venues that provide more for you than WP.

When you think about your wedding what do you see?  Do you want modern, vintage, a garden, an elegant hotel, a big party loft type space, what?  You could start by looking through our venue sticky and seeing what past Knotties have used. TK has a good list of Dallas venues also.  And as you start developing your vision, maybe we can be more help. Also, let us know your guest size and budget.

Your profile says August 2013 so you still have plenty of time for most places (WP would be the exception).

  • Is 2000 what you hope to spend for facility rental? Or what you hope to spend on pipe and drape? I really think you ought to first set a budget use the budget calculator on TK or Weddingbee. And then you need to prioritize. Is draping really all that important, or could you find a venue that is beautiful on it's own, without the addition of drapery?

  • I agree on trying to find something that doesn't need drapery.

That's the easiest way to keep your ocsts down I think.

This is what you need to do up front. That way you know what you can afford for a venue without food, and and what you can afford if the venue has its own caterer. There are so many good options in Dallas, but you need to get your budget straight first.
  • Everyone here has given you really great advice on the budget and the drapery.  I can't think of any venue we saw that needed drapery.  I just don't really feel like you get enough out of it to make up for the huge expense of having it.  You can add plenty of warmth and color with simple uplighting, and even that's not necessary.  Bring in color and warmth with your table linens (even just the napkins) and your centerpieces.  Drapery to me is a very unnecessary cost that no venue will ever inlcude in their event package.
