Macy's Duplicate Gift

I'm a little perplexed by Macy's.  We set up our registry months ago so we could slowly add items to it.   Back in January I received an engagement gift from my Aunt & Uncle off the registry.  Yesterday I received the same item.  The item was listed as fulfilled back in January I'm a little confused as to how this happened.   Is this common?

It happens, not all registries take away the "buy" button after a gift is fulfilled from what I understand, although the store can't really stop anyone from buying online and having it shipped to you or going into the store to purchase it.  Is it something that someone might think two would be useful?  I've added a second for a few of our e-party gifts, I've used them so many times and frequently wish we had a second of some serving pieces.  The person could have just remembered you had it listed on your registry, and not checked again before purchasing.  Since that item is on your registry, it should be easy to return.  I've had to do a couple Macy's returns so far, and they were simple.
  • Macy's was awesome with our returns, even though we didn't have gift receipts for them.  If it's something you don't need a second of, just return/exchange it for something else.  As PP said, they can't exactly stop someone from buying a gift in the store, even if it is marked as "fulfilled" on your registry.

Some people just don't pay attention to see what's already been bought.  Don't be perplexed at Macys......be perplexed at your guest.  :D
