Few questions...

We are going to register soon for our wedding and I was just wondering a few things I was hope you all could help with!

Is it alright to put a camera on the registry? I am thinking for when we go on our honeymoon we are going to want to have pictures to remember it, and we do not have a camera!

Also did anyone put board games on their registry? We love board games but play the same few over and over because we don't have any others. My mom said that it isn't something you should put on a wedding registry, is that true?

Are there other things you put on your registry you didn't think of before you went to the stores?

Thank you in advance :)

Re: Few questions...

  • I think a camera is okay, but it depends. I might side-eye board games, but I know there are ladies on here who think it's fine. So it really might be up to you to decide what works best.

FWIW, I don't think either a camera or board games are the worst things to put on a registry.

  • I think the camera is fine, but I'd never buy a board game as a wedding gift.

  • I agree with PP, I believe the camera would be fine but I don't think I would buy anyone a board game off of their registry

  • We put both a new camera and board games on our registries and both were purchased. I think the only things I'd side eye were items specifically for one partner (like women's makeup or men's tennis shoes, etc). I also find it weird when people put items for their babies or kids on a wedding registry. If you are expecting a baby, I feel like you should make a separate registry for that.

The one thing we didn't register for but got and LOVE are memory foam pillows.

  • I would totally buy board games for someone if I saw it on their registry.

I think both are fine, but I would make sure you have some more traditional items on your registry for guests that prefer to get something else.

The most recent wedding gift we bought was board games (I think we got Taboo and Apples to Apples) off a registry.  We were looking at all the available stuff on the registry, and it was easier to just go and pick out those two games than to comb through towel sets to make sure we got the right ones, plus it was more fun to watch the couple open it (it was a late wedding gift).
  • I think it would be a great idea to put a camera and board games on your registry.  But also make sure you have some traditional items to for those great aunts and grandmothers that are looking to get you a toaster or china!  good luck!

  • I don't see a problem with either one.  I'd just watch my price point with the camera closely.
  • I agree with Rebecca to watch the price point on the camera, but I think 2-4 board games is great.  I would buy those for a shower (and in particular a couple's shower), though I wouldn't buy them for the wedding itself.  Some more traditional ladies don't always like seeing it, but I think it's fine as long as the ranges are modest.  If you don't have a blu-ray player, that's also something I'm starting to see a lot of. I also have started seeing a number of cookbooks (we are registering for 6 or 7 of these in different price ranges), camping/tailgating gear, tools, and other things like that that you can do together.  My pet peeve is video game equipment.  Yes I know some women play video games but it seems so heavily geared toward men sitting on the couch and not communicating with their spouse that it really rubs me the wrong way.

And ditto pp to make sure you have some traditional items as well.  Honestly, I think the more you have the better because then people have choices.  Just don't expect to get everything, and your guests will thank you for having options to pick from.

  • Why not!?! Like the PP said, as long as it's not too outrageously expensive, most won't mind. My only non-traditional item so far is a few food & water bowls for my cats. I have quite a few cats & am known for being a cat lady, so I thought people would get a kick out of it. Hehe
  • I think both are fine!

I absolutely love board games and FI and I host a game night at least twice a month, so I actually think our friends would PREFER to buy us a board game that they will also get use out of than a spatula or some towels IMO.
