Registering at BBB

I'm registering on this Wednesday at Bed bath and beyond,  (then PB next wk).  I'm worried I don't want to go over board or look gift grabby.  I have 55 ppl invited to my shower.  For my big ticket items I am registering for fine china, a kitchen aid..then we are also am registering for a knive set and a set of pots and pans..also need pretty much all the basics..towels..sheets..bakewear silverwear.  I would love to add one or 2 La Creset cast iron pans..as well as a pot & pan set but will that look like too much?  Any advice is also appreciated!

Re: Registering at BBB

  • Just focus on a variety of price points.  BBB gives you a checklist.  Here is a good one too:

I'd go in there with a list of what you want so you can keep track what you've done.  Registering at BBB wasn't nearly as much fun as I'd hoped.  We also registered at Kohls & Target and our best experience was at Target.  I hate updating my registry on BBB's website.  It's a total pain it seems...  While you're inviting 55 to the shower you also need to keep in mind how many you're inviting to the wedding as not everyone gives cash.

I wouldn't worry about going overboard on items. The more items, the more choices your guests have and the less likely they will be to get a gift somewhere else that you can't return to.

Also, at BBB your registry remains active for 2 years after your wedding date, so people can also purchase off it for the wedding, birthdays, x-mas, anniversarys, etc. So go ahead and add what you want, you never know when you might get it. :)

Which BBB are you registering at in the Philly area? I had a really great experience at the one in Springfield, they really know their stuff there!

    Edited for clarity.
  • good to know!  We are registering at the BBB near Concord Mall, in Wilmington, De.  We live closer to there than Delaware County.  Thanks!

  • Down south people give boxed gifts for both the wedding and the shower.  I have about 20 coming to my shower, 320 invited to the wedding.  We registered for about 275 items total, and that doesn't seem like too much for our crowd.  Keep in mind that families typically give a single gift (so while we have invited 320 guests to the wedding it's more like 115 separate invitations).

  • Thanks..up here we give gifts at showers..and mostly cash or crystal as wedding gifts!
  • Definitely put a variety on the registry, don't worry about the amount of objects (unless we're talking 300 +, then you're just being cray cray).

Keep in mind too that items on your registry will get a discount once your are married, so that you can buy them yourself on the cheap.
