Disney honeymoon registry

Has anyone created a Disney honeymoon registry?  My fiance and I both love Disney World and we have been living together for 10+ years so thought a honeymoon registry was the best way to go.

Re: Disney honeymoon registry

  • You are not going to like the responses you are about to get.  Personally, I wouldn't do a honeymoon registry.  HOWEVER, I don't COMPLETELY side eye brides that do.  I think that people will know you've been together that long and probably have most of what you need.  I would make a small registry with items that need updating (towels, plates maybe?  kitchen tools?).  People know that cash is an option, so if you have a small registry, they will be more inclined to give cash and you can pay for your honeymoon that way.  Maybe have your's and FI parents spread word of mouth, "oh they are registered here, but they don't need a whole lot" people will get the idea.

PS: Any wedding I have been too that had a honeymoon registries had the "older" women (50+) just fuming and talking behind the brides back.  Like I said, it doesn't drive me bananas, but I'm not a fan.

There are many posts on both this board and the HM board in regard to HM registries. In short, don't do it. If you would like a longer description of why, I would check the stickies on both boards and search for posts on them. I know the HM board had one very recently within the last few days.

Most couples live together now before getting married, many for a long time. That's not an excuse to do a HM registry.

ETA: There is a sticky at the top of this board called "Thinking of a HM Registry?"

I wouldn't do it. We had a traditional registry and still received about 95% cash for our wedding. People will get the hint without a honeymoon registry.
  • Asking people for money is always in poor taste.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • we are honeymooning in disney and i am thinking about registering for a few of the tours, but not for the honeymoon itself.

  • Disney's honeymoon registry USED to be a free service that gave you a Disney GC for whatever the total amount purchased.  It didn't actually purchase any of the items you registered for, but since a Disney GC can only be used for Disney items, it was a HR I actually would recommend to somebody.

THAT BEING SAID, they've changed their policies so now guests are charged a fee to purchase anything and they just cut you a check.  It's just the same as any other honeymoon registry.
  • We are going to Disney World for our honeymoon and thought about doing their registry, but decided against it once we found out there is a fee. Instead we created a Target registry and are using word of mouth to let people know that we'd like Disney gift cards to go towards the honeymoon. When people ask my fiance or I where we are registered, we answer Target. When people ask our parents, they mention Target but also mention that we would like Disney gift cards to put towards our honeymoon. So far it's worked out well. We have 26 days left until our wedding. So excited!
