XP: Some advice about BBB (long)

Hi Ladies,

I don't usually post here, but am recently married (10/16) and registered at BBB, as I'm sure a lot of you have done also.

I wanted to share an interesting experience at BBB this weekend, that could possibily benefit you in the future

#1.  Tuesday I returned and exchanged several items from our registery at BBB.  They were able to give me cash back for everything I returned.  I had 2 items without a packing list and/or gift recipet and was able to return these and get cash back for those minus 20% (not a big deal b/c we "lost" $8 but we wouldn't have used them items anyways.  So on Saturday DH & I decided to return 2 more items.  The items total price was less what I returned on Tuesday, but the store was unable to give cash back, saying they didn't have enough in their drawer, but I could receive store credit or a corporate check.  Since we had shopping to do, I just took the store credit.  I asked the clerk how it was that I was able to get cash back on Tuesday but not on Saturday, she said that supposedly the returns/cash back policy isn't clean cut and is only availabe when there's enough cash in the drawers.

Moral of story #1: If you're returning gifts at BBB & want cash back, do returns during the week and not the weekend (this is what clerk told me)

EDIT:  However, you can also return at anytime and have a coporate check issued to you, the downfall is that it takes 6-8 wks to receive.

#2.  On Saturday we decided to return all of our new openstock pots & pans and buy the corresponding set instead (we registered for openstock assuming it was easier for people to give a $20-$130 pan instead of a $400 set, but since we recieved all of the pans we registered for, by returning them and buying the set, we'll over $140 cash back).  So we bought the pan set and also a knife set.  When we got home, I updated our BBB registery online (both of our parents have said they'll use the opens items as Chrismas gift ideas) and noticed that online with the purchase of the pan set, we were supposed to give a $50 BBB bonus gift.  I mentioned to DH and then he said, well did we get the gift with purchase from the knive set? Sure enough, no.

So I went back to the store on Sunday with just my reciept...turns out that our pan set also had a gift with purchase that they forgot to give us.  Essentially, if we hadn't noticed, we would have lost $180 of merchandise/credit! ($50 BBB bonus gift, $50 knive set bonus  gift, and $80 bonus gift for pan set!)

Moral #2: Pay attention to all of the signs in the store for bonuses, and also check online!  The store clerk may easily forgot to mention or not even know about them!
