Okay, so FI is British and currently lives in England. I'm American and currently live in America. We've decided that we are going to move to England because we think our life financially will be better there.
I don't want to ask for cash, I think that's tacky and honestly I wouldn't be upset if I got absolutely no presents - but I know that's not going to happen. I also don't want people to buy me loads of home decor and appliances that I'm just going to have to sell on ebay before I move. Some small things I can take with me to England such as a couple picture frames, candle holders, etc. But any electronics won't even work in England as they have different plugs to America.
I created a registry at Target before we decided to move to England and currently have on there about 15 items that can be easily moved: luggage, travel accessories, a few very small single bud vases, digital camera etc.
I've heard enough stories of people recieving gifts they never use and don't need, but in my case it would be a big hassle for someone to give me something like a Crock Pot that I have to turn around and sell or something.
Is there any way to really stress that unless it's on my registry, I really REALLY don't want it? I would rather recieve nothing but a nice card from people than stuff that I would either have to try and sell or pay to transport to England. Any advice is greatly appreciated : )
TIA!!
