Not sure if we should register?

Hello ladies,
We are having a very small wedding. 40-50 guests. We are getting married about 2 hours away from where we live so im thinking we'll be lucky if everyone can make the trip to see us get married. We've been thinking we probably shouldnt register. Is it rude to ask our guests to travel all that way AND then to get us a gift?? Not sure what to do about the whole thing...would appreciate some insight!

I would register.  It's two hours, not two days.  I think you'll be surprised to find that plenty of people will make the trip and will still want to get you a gift.  And remember, the registry isn't asking for a gift so much as it is putting ideas out there for people that want to get you a gift.

Yeah you can register and you don't even mention it unless someone asks.  You don't have to register for a lot of items but just give a few ideas for anyone who wants to check it out.

It's definitely okay to register.

Registering isn't the same as asking for gifts.  It's just suggesting things you like so that people who DO want to get you gifts know what you like.   

I would definitely recommend you have a small registry.  It's okay to register for "upgrades" (like a new stand mixer or super-nice sheets).   Just keep in mind that you should register for items at a variety of price points to accomodate guests with different budgets.  Some people are nervous about registering for big-ticket items, but remember that some of your guests might want to go in together on a gift, so it's okay to register for that Dyson -- you might just get it!  And if you don't, then most stores offer "completion" discounts so you can buy the Dyson for youself at a discount after the wedding.
