Champagne for B&G?

So I bought these really pretty toasting flutes a long time ago for me & Daniel to use at the wedding, but I just realized that we aren't having a champagne toast! We're just doing an in-hand toast. Would it be really rude or tacky if we just have one bottle of champagne for us at our table? I know we always say just having alcohol or champagne for your BP is rude, is it the same thing for the B&G?

(Sorry, this is Angela AKA texantreasure08. I had to make a new SN to get a new checklist for my packing since TK was acting up, and forgot to log out!)

I think that is totally fine, I have been to quite a few weddings that didnt have a champagne toast but the brid and groom did.

Thanks for the quick response Bobbileigh! I'll go ahead and pack the flutes. Laughing

Do you have a wedding planner that can just go up to the bar and get you champagne poured into your flutes without anyone knowing what's in it? If it's not in a bottle in the middle of the table, no one is going to ever know what's in your glass.

FWIW, we didn't have any champagne at our wedding. Our wedding planner discreetly handed us fancy glasses filled with a shot of Wild Turkey. I had not thought about the toast beforehand at all, so that wasn't planned --- she was just awesome and remembered I'd told her that's "our" drink. I absolutely loved it. None of our guests knew what was in our glass, and H loves bragging to people that we toasted our wedding with Wild Turkey.

So if you two have a favorite kind of drink, you might think of substituting that instead of buying a bottle of champagne just for the toast.

Well, I wouldn't be mad even though I really love champagne.  I'll just make sure to hit the bar that much harder.  ;)  Especially now that my ILs are coming on Friday.

We aren't providing champagne for everyone either, but our venue is giving us a bottle of champagne for our toast...

Hmm I wonder how many bottles we would really need if we have a ton of everything else. I doubt many people will actually ask for champagne, right? Maybe I can have a few available at the bar?

This drink calculator tool includes champagne (link). It says 1 bottle of champagne = 5 drinks. IDK how many guests you are having, but it estimated 20 bottles for 100 guests.

I think it is totally up to you...not too many people will miss champagne as long as they have other choices at the bar. We just had a bottle of Moscato that we used our fancy Waterford Crystal wine glasses for. If you're only having it to 'have it' to use in the flutes, I would just get a mini bottle, use it for the toast, then go back to your drink of choice. I doubt anyone would even notice, and it is fairly common for the B&G to have champagne and for the guests to toast with whatever is in front of them. I haven't been to a champagne-passed reception in quite a while--I think most people just don't like it.
Wendi does though, she would finish everybodys drinks! ;)

Most receptions I've been to lately, the toast was just done with whatever was in hand.  They had champagne available, but they did not pass it around beforehand.  In fact, the last wedding I went to where the champagne was passed, it was not champagne at all, but sparkling apple juice (yay Baylor receptions!).
