Dress Shopping

Hello Ladies,

Need a little help or advice on where to start. Haven't lived here long, I don't know which dress shops are worth while going to. I have looked up places on line but word of mouth is better! Please recommend a dress shop that has great prices and selection, my budget is at or under $1000 for dress. Also if you know if they have larger sample sizes to try on like 12-16 that helps!

Thanks! D

I'm not so good with the advice... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?

Definitely check out our vendor sticky on the forums for the vendor sites (the one Wendi linked)

Going to the vendor sites allow you to find various vendors, their prices, contact info, etc.  It also saves the regs here from answering the same Q's 100 times a week :)

Terry Costa in Dallas had a good selection of size 12 dresses to try on and a number of dresses by Mori Lee well under $1,000.

Terry Costa's and David's Bridal will both be in your price range and have good plus size options. I bought my dress (plus size) from Bliss Bridal Salon in Fort Worth. They have a lot to choose from, but they may be a little out of your price range (I saw mosty $1000-$1800 dresses). But I bought mine at a trunk show and it was 10% off that day!

I second Terry Costa!  I ended up going with a beautiful Mori Lee gown for < $1,000.  Their customer service was the best out of all the bridal shops I went to.  They even got a dress for me that will arrive by the end of April, when another shop quoted late June w/rush.

I did check out the Denton Bridal Co, but their sample sizes to try on ran small (maybe it was just my selection)?  I'm not a big girl, but a few of the dresses were size 4 & 6 - not a good size for samples!!

I went to Lasting Impressions Bridal in Addison after my boss recommended them, and I loved my experience there. I got a dress for slightly over $1000 (my budget was the same, but I found the absolute perfect dress that I couldn't image not getting). Don't go to Demetrios Bridal in Frisco - they just about kicked me out when I told them my budget, and my friend said the same thing happened to her.
Circle Park was a little too busy for me (I called on a weekday to make an appointment and they told me they were too busy and to call back later), but I have a friend who found her dress there and loved it. I also have a friend who loved Bridal Co. and several friends who have found dresses at David's Bridal. David's Bridal gave me the feel of Walmart (mass-produced for low prices), and I didn't like how they pressured me to buy right thenp. But if you can find the right dress there, they have good prices, but beware of hidden extra chrages.

I vote Circle Park Bridal and Terry Costa. Both have tons of options in the $700-1000 range. I ended up purchasing my dress at Circle Park and was very impressed with the service and environment there. :) I'm a street size 8-10 and was able to fit into all of their samples with no problem. Some dresses like mermaid fits and different types of fabric will always be tighter no matter what the size, but for the most part the samples fit.

    Good luck on your hunt!
