Hi girls - taking a moment to recap my own personal do's and don'ts list...
The wedding was gorgeous. The weather was perfect and the night was so much fun. I was a nervous wreck before it though. Sheesh!
Things to take note of:
- People actually will notice the cute things you did... and will not even be aware of the things you meant to do and didn't. So let those go.
- Make sure you have a vase of water for your bouquet waiting.
- Give your photographer a list of the meaningful things at the event that you want captured... like my dad's framed photo, the conch shell my best friend gave me, etc.
- We had a hotel room for the wedding night... I should have had someone stash food/drinks in our room for us! We were too wrapped up to think of it. Believe me when I tell you that you won't get enough time to really eat your dinner at your reception. I didn't mind/notice at the time, we just partied with champagne... until we were back at the room and starving! I literally counted down the minutes till we could order room service at 6am.
- It takes like 30 minutes to get all the pins out of your hair. Longer if your DH gets in the shower with you to help. ;-) Even after that, you will look a little like Bob Marley if you don't bring conditioner and/or a pick.
- When you pack your overnight bag, don't forget your dress bag (unless you changed clothes before hand).
- If your dress is complex to get on, it will be complex to take off. Mine wasn't... thank God. We would have been too loopy to handle it at the end of the night! If it's complex, go right now and buy a dress to change into at the reception where you have girlfriends handy to help!
- There are absolutely no words to describe the way you will feel when you say your vows to each other. Oh my gosh. I think it's all the more meaningful THIS time, after having failed at this marriage thing before. I really just can't tell you how deeply I felt that moment. I hope you do too. It was stunning.
Above all else, allow yourself the opportunity to soak in the moments. They are truly beautiful moments.
