Engagement announcement

This is my second wedding and his third. My question is do you think it would be appropriate to put an engagement announcement in the paper? And if so how do we word it and what's the timeline for doing it? We are planning a june 2013 wedding. Btw im new here.

    Congratulations on your engagement!!  Welcome to the board!! We will want to know alll about your plans!! 

    I'm not an expert on if you should put an announcement in the papers or not - never did that.  Although we did think about putting an announcement of either our engagement or wedding in the paper of the town where we attended high school - but decided not to.

    I wouldn't, because there's too many people who would only want to know it for gossip.  If it's common in your circle or community-- there's no harm in doing it.
