florist advice

Hi everyone! I need a bit more advice here. We had an appt. Saturday with a pretty well known florist recommended here as well that ended up with us being stood up. I know everyone makes mistakes, but she already had to reschedule once before this mistake and im trying to see if we should try again. She seems genuinely mortified that this happened and offered a pretty good discount if we meet and go with her. She's gotten nothing but good reviews from what ive seen. What do y'all think i should do?

Re: florist advice

  • That's not a good first impression, but it's good that she at least recognizes her mistakes and is willing to give you a discount! I say go ahead and meet with her, see how you "mesh" and then go from there.
  • Something similar happened to me but I never received a call to reschedule or a discount offer. Since they were apologetic and willing to work out a deal I'd still meet with them but also meet with others.
  • Thanks guys! Ill go ahead and meet with her then!
  • I would still meet with her, and use that discounted pricing as a negotiating tool if/when you meet with other florists. Even if it is a discount, I always feel like there is a good deal of room for back and forth since wedding pricing is typically inflated in the first place.

Example: We were considering uplighting for our reception venue, and the initial quote my DJ gave was $50/can. I did a bit of research to see what the cost would be if I bought the cans myself (with the intent to resell after the wedding), and the lowest price I found was $21/can. The next time we met with the DJ, I told him that I got a quote for $25/can and he said that he would match it. We ended up not doing the uplighting, but the gap between 50 and 25 was significant.
  • I would go ahead and try to meet one more time, but that would be the first strike against her. Things happen, but common courtesy should always be there.
