How long did you and FI date before engagement? Just short of 2 years
How long between first date and wedding date? 2 years
We planned and executed our wedding in three months. My best friend is getting married next summer, and we didn't want to get married the same summer she did, but we also didn't want to wait two years. I'm planning on being a teacher, so we knew that we wanted to get married in the summertime so that we could take anniversary trips and such. Also, I underwent treatment for cancer in early April, which sort of propted a "start living" outlook on life.
I was divorced seven years prior to the wedding, and FI was divorced ten years.
Our wedding took place in the grand ballroom of the Marriott, with 50 of our closest friends and relatives in attendance.Our only attendants were my children. My favorite part of the wedding was that we got to plan it ourselves. My parents planned my first wedding, and his xW planned his, so this time, we got to have things the way that we wanted them. We chose EVERYTHING together: my dress, the venue, the food, the flowers, the music, EVERYTHING. We even wrote the ceremony. Since Handfast is here, I feel comfortable saying that we incorported some of our pagan beliefs into the ceremony. I laugh and say that I had a big, white handfasting.
The result of this is that I had the wedding of my dreams, marrying the man of my dreams.
